Flow management inside warehouses improves work efficiency

Position information system using BLE beacons serves to improve work efficiency

Data needed to improve picking work is not available if using current process management methods
Warehouse management work in places such as distribution centers and logistics warehouses consists of picking the products required for each order and shipping them out. Workers gather together products spread out across the warehouse in carts as based on the instructions for gathering product.

As the amount of products shipped from distribution-related sites continues to increase, companies seek to speed up picking work by improving such work through measures including recording the movements of workers during picking and the layout of shelves. Currently, workers use a code reader to read the code indicating shelf position information each time they pick a product, and after picking is completed they write down what they remember of the process by hand.

However, this method not only requires time spent to teach the workers about the recording method, but also makes analysis of where time is wasted difficult because the detailed movement of workers while picking cannot be accurately recorded. For this reason, picking routes, warehouse shelf layout, and product positions are changed without accurately understanding the process, resulting in an environment that is far from optimal.

Compile a position information system to ascertain flow in real time
What is a useful process management method for improving the speed of picking work?

IDEC, your provider of solutions to improve the efficiency of distribution-related and a wide variety of other work sites, proposes creation of a position information system in your warehouse. This system consists of workers carrying handy terminals that emit BLE beacon signals and numerous sensors installed to shelves in the warehouse that receive these BLE beacon signals. The handy terminals transmit multiple beacon signals in one second, which are then received by the sensors so that warehouse supervisors can record in real time where the workers are in the warehouse, what work they are doing, and how they are moving around. This allows the line of flow for each task performed by workers to be ascertained, and this data can then be analyzed in order to study the optimal picking routes, shelf layout, and similar factors.

Use of the handy terminals that emit BLE beacon signals for warehouse management work is not only an easy way to ascertain the line of flow of workers, but also enables improvement of detailed work tasks because you can also ascertain the line of flow of each single work task.

Let IDEC propose the perfect BLE beacon solution for you
Feel free to consult IDEC about the solutions using BLE beacons. First, we want to hear what you want to do and we will ascertain the conditions of your work site in order to provide you with the number and layout of BLE beacons and sensors, instructions for using the system, and everything else required to meet your needs. Don't hesitate to ask us, "Is it possible to use it at our type of work site?" if you are interested in this system.
